The MAX8607 white LED boost converter is opTImizedfor camera flash/strobe applicaTIons using high-currentwhite LEDs. The MAX8607 integrates a 1MHz PWMboost converter, 1.5A low-dropout (LDO) current regulator,and logic control circuitry for a space-saving LEDflash design. Two logic inputs control four modes ofoperaTIon: shutdown mode reduces the quiescent currentto 0.1μA (typ), movie mode supplies up to 360mAof LED current for conTInuous lighting, flash mode suppliesup to 1.5A of LED current for short-duration lightingduring an exposure, and disco mode supplies +5V(at up to 1A) to external circuits while driving the LEDwith a fixed 80mA current.The internal 1MHz boost converter features an adaptivecontrol scheme with an internal switching MOSFET andsynchronous rectifier to improve efficiency and minimizeexternal component count.
