The MAX31722/MAX31723 digital thermometers andthermostats with an SPI™/3-wire interface provide temperaturereadings that indicate the device temperature.No addiTIonal components are required; the devicesare truly temperature-to-digital converters. Temperaturereadings are communicated from the device over anSPI interface or a 3-wire serial interface. The choice ofinterface is selectable by the user. For applicaTIons thatrequire greater temperature resoluTIon, the user canadjust the readout resoluTIon from 9 to 12 bits. This isparticularly useful in applications where thermal runawayconditions must be detected quickly. The thermostat hasa dedicated open-drain output (TOUT). Two thermostatoperating modes, comparator and interrupt, control thermostatoperation based on user-defined nonvolatile trippoints (THIGH and TLOW). Both devices feature a 1.7V to3.7V supply rail.
