RT9245B is a mulTI-phase buck DC/DC controllerintegrated with all control funcTIons for AMD K8 CPU. TheRT9245B could be operated with 2, 3 or 4 buck switchingstages operaTIng in interleaved phase set automaTIcally.The multiphase architecture provides high output currentwhile maintaining low power dissipation on power devicesand low stress on input and output capacitors. The highequivalent operating frequency also reduces thecomponent dimension and the output voltage ripple in loadtransient.RT9245B implements both voltage and current loops toachieve good regulation, response and power stagethermal balance.RT9245B applies the DCR sensing technology newly. TheRT9245B extracts the ESR of output inductor as sensecomponent to deliver a precise load line regulation andgood thermal balance for next generation processorapplication.Current sense setting, droop tuning, VCORE initial offsetand over current protection are independent oncompensation circuit of voltage loop. The feature greatlyfacilitates the flexibility of CPU power supply design andtuning. The DAC output of RT9245B supports AMD K86-bit VID, precise offset value & smooth VCORE transientat VID jump. The IC monitors the VCORE voltage for PGOODand over-voltage protection. Soft-start, over-currentprotection and programmable under-voltage lockout arealso provided to assure the safety of microprocessor andpower system. The RT9245B comes to a small footprintpackage TSSOP-28.
