The ISL29015 is an integrated ambient and infrared light todigital converter with a built-in IR LED driver and I2C/SMBusinterface. This device provides not only ambient light sensingto allow robust backlight/display brightness control but alsoinfrared sensing to allow proximity esTImaTIon.For ambient light sensing, an internal 16-bit ADC has beendesigned based on the charge-balancing A/D conversiontechnique. The ADC conversion TIme is nominally 100msand is user adjustable from 25μs to 100ms depends onoscillator frequency and ADC resoluTIon. This ADC iscapable of rejecting 50Hz and 60Hz flicker noise caused byartificial light sources. The lux-range-select feature allowsusers to program the lux range for optimized counts/lux.
