The Microchip Technology Inc. 28C16A is a CMOS 16Knon-volaTIle electrically Erasable PROM. The 28C16Ais accessed like a staTIc RAM for the read or writecycles without the need of external components. Duringa “byte write”, the address and data are latchedinternally, freeing the microprocessor address and databus for other operaTIons. Following the iniTIation ofwrite cycle, the device will go to a busy state and automaticallyclear and write the latched data using aninternal control timer. To determine when a write cycleis complete, the 28C16A uses Data polling. Data pollingallows the user to read the location last written towhen the write operation is complete. CMOS designand processing enables this part to be used in systemswhere reduced power consumption and reliability arerequired. A complete family of packages is offered toprovide the utmost flexibility in applications.
