The ICL7650S Super Chopper-Stabilized Amplifier offersexcepTIonally low input offset voltage and is extremely stablewith respect to TIme and temperature. It is a directreplacement for the industry-standard ICL7650 offeringimproved input offset voltage, lower input offset voltagetemperature coefficient, reduced input bias current, andwider common mode voltage range. All improvements arehighlighted in bold italics in the Electrical CharacterisTIcssecTIon. Critical parameters are guaranteed over theentire commercial temperature range.Intersil’s unique CMOS chopper-stabilized amplifier circuitryis user-transparent, virtually eliminating the traditionalchopper amplifier problems of intermodulation effects, chopping spikes, and overrange lockup. The chopper amplifier achieves its low offset by comparingthe inverting and non-inverting input voltages in a nullingamplifier, nulled by alternate clock phases. Two externalcapacitors are required to store the correcting potentials onthe two amplifier nulling inputs; these are the only externalcomponents necessary. The clock oscillator and all the other control circuitry isentirely self-contained. However the 14 lead version includesa provision for the use of an external clock, if required for aparticular application. In addition, the ICL7650S is internallycompensated for unity-gain operation.
