Many applications exist for nonvolatile eventdetection circuits. Circuits needing to sense anover/under-voltage condition often must rememberthat an event occurred, even after a power-down hastaken place. These applications typically use latchingrelays when the input is automated, or switches whenmanual input is appropriate. Both latching relays andswitches are forms of nonvolatile memory that canoften be replaced with the circuit described here.
