The ISL6406MREP and ISL6406MVEP are adjustablefrequency, synchronous buck switching regulators opTImizedfor generaTIng lower voltages for distributed DC/DCarchitectures. Both devices feature an adjustable outputvoltage.Designed to drive N-Channel MOSFETs in a synchronousbuck topology, the ISL6406MREP and ISL6406MVEPintegrate the control, output adjustment and protecTIonfuncTIons into a single package.The ISL6406MREP and ISL6406MVEP provide simple,single feedback loop, voltage-mode control with fasttransient response. The output voltage can be preciselyregulated to as low as 0.8V. The error amplifier features a15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/μs slew rate whichenables high converter bandwidth for fast transientperformance.Protection from overcurrent conditions is provided bymonitoring the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET to inhibit PWMoperation appropriately. This approach simplifies theimplementation and improves efficiency by eliminating theneed for a current sense resistor.The wide programmable switching frequency range of100kHz to 700kHz allows the use of small surface mountinductors and capacitors. The device also provides externalfrequency synchronization making it an ideal choice forDC/DC converter applications.
