This application note shows how the VIC64 can be interfacedto a Motorola 68040 microprocessor operating at 40 MHz.The issues and assumptions that go into designing such aninterface are considerable and complex; thus, this applicationnote will not attempt to design a complete VME board that cando everything. It will cover some of the issues that are pertinentwhen designing a 68040-based VMEbus board and willfocus on the circuitry required for VIC64 to 68040 interfacing.
