These devices combine three popular funcTIons, Power-onReset Control, Supply Voltage Supervision, and Block LockProtect Serial EEPROM Memory in one package. ThiscombinaTIon lowers system cost, reduces board spacerequirements, and increases reliability.Applying power to the device acTIvates the power-on resetcircuit which holds RESET/RESET acTIve for a period oftime. This allows the power supply and oscillator to stabilizebefore the processor can execute code.The device’s low VCC detection circuitry protects the user’ssystem from low voltage conditions by holdingRESET/RESET active when VCC falls below a minimum VCCtrip point. RESET/RESET remains asserted until VCC returnsto proper operating level and stabilizes. Five industrystandard VTRIP thresholds are available, however, Intersil’sunique circuits allow the threshold to be reprogrammed tomeet custom requirements or to fine-tune the threshold inapplications requiring higher precision.
