High-Efficiency, Quad or Triple-OutputSystem Power Supply Controller forNotebook ComputersThe ISL62381, ISL62382, ISL62383 family of controllersgenerate supply voltages for battery-powered systems. TheISL62381 and ISL62382 include two pulse-width modulaTIon(PWM) controllers, adjustable from 0.6V to 5.5V, and twolinear regulators, LDO5 and LDO3, that generate a fixed 5Vand an adjustable output respecTIvely, and each can deliverup to 100mA. The ISL62383 has the same outputs as theISL62381 and ISL62382, but without LDO3 linear regulator.The channel 2 switching regulator will automaTIcally takeover the LDO5 load when programmed to 5V output. Thisprovides a large power savings and boosts efficiency. TheISL62381, ISL62382, ISL62383 family include on-boardpower-up sequencing, two power-good (PGOOD) outputs,digital soft-start, and internal soft-stop output discharge thatprevent negaTIve voltages on shutdown.The patented R3 PWM control scheme provides a low jittersystem with fast response to load transients. Light-loadefficiency is improved with period-stretching discontinuousconduction mode (DCM) operation. To eliminate noise inaudio frequency applications, an ultrasonic DCM mode isincluded, which limits the minimum switching frequency toapproximately 28kHz.The ISL62381, ISL62382, is available in 32 Ld 5x5 TQFNpackage, and ISL62383 is available in 28 Ld 4x4 TQFNpackage. ISL62381, ISL62382, ISL62383 family can operateover the extended temperature range (-10°C to +100°C).
