The ISL6324 dual PWM controller delivers high efficiencyand TIght regulaTIon from two synchronous buck DC/DCconverters. The ISL6324 supports hybrid power control ofAMD processors which operate from either a 6-bit parallelVID interface (PVI) or a serial VID interface (SVI). The dualoutput ISL6324 features a mulTIphase controller to supportuniplane VDD core voltage and a single phase controller topower the Northbridge (VDDNB) in SVI mode. Only themulTIphase controller is active in PVI mode to supportuniplane VDD only processors.A precision uniplane core voltage regulation system is providedby a 2- to 4-phase PWM voltage regulator (VR) controller. Theintegration of two power MOSFET drivers, adding flexibility inlayout, reduce the number of external components in themultiphase section. A single phase PWM controller withintegrated driver provides a second precision voltage regulationsystem for the North Bridge portion of the processor. Thismonolithic, dual controller with integrated driver solutionprovides a cost and space saving power management solution.
