The PS4160EV EvaluaTIon Kit provides the opportunityto evaluate the PS401 IC quickly and easily. The evaluaTIonkit contains all of the hardware and softwarenecessary to implement a fully funcTIonal smart batteryand demonstrate all operaTIng modes. The includedPS4160 module is a complete smart battery controllersubsystem, based on the Microchip PS401 batterymanager with patented Accuron™ technology. Themodule is designed to operate in a battery packconsisting of three (3) and four (4) series connectedLi-based cells. The module consists of the MicrochipPS401 battery manager IC, with a four LED SOC display,safety circuit, and an optional connection for anexternal thermistor.The included PowerTool™ Windows®-based softwarecan be used to modify the programming in the preprogrammedevaluation module. Although many interdependentparameters must be taken into accountwhen programming the battery manager, the process issimplified with the PowerTool configuration wizard.
