As a result, demand for extended operaTIon has driven a growing interest in capturing unused power generated by normal human acTIviTIes such as walking and breathing. Beyond these consumer-oriented drivers, interest in energy harvesting has grown rapidly in the medical sector. The ability to eliminate or forestall battery replacement also helps ensure always-on operation and patient compliance in other critical applications such as blood glucose monitors and ECG monitors.
