The AS1364 operates from a 2 to 5.5 V supply and hence it is ideal for dual or triple standard-cell and single Li-Ion battery powered applicaTIons. The regulator offers very low dropout voltage of 140mV at 1A. The quiescent current too is very low of just 35microA during operaTIon and 10nA at shutdown. Battery life is greatly maximized while using AS1364.   “There is a growing demand of applicaTIons requiring high currents and the need of a LDO smoothed voltage,” commented Walter Moshammer, markeTIng director of standard linear at austriamicrosystems.   “At currents rated around 1A, the dropout voltage is the most important factor for lifetime and efficiency of the system. Austriamicrosystems’ AS1364 fulfils these needs completely,” added Moshammer enthusiastically.   The AS1364 can be an adjustable version or it comes with pre-programmed output voltages in the range of 1.2 to 5.0V with a very high output voltage accuracy of 0.75 percent. The adjustable version allows high flexibility in design and does not require a bypass capacitance, while the pre-programmed version provides better noise performance with a bypass pin.   The regulator has low output voltage noise of 50microVrms in the adjustable version and only 10microVrms in the pre-programmed version. The AS1364 also has a power-ok output that signals when the output voltage drops out of regulation by about six percent.
