The MPC508A is an 8-channel single-ended analogmulTIplexer and the MPC509A is a 4-channel differenTIalmulTIplexer.The MPC508A and MPC509A mulTIplexers have inputovervoltage protection. Analog input voltages mayexceed either power supply voltage without damagingthe device or disturbing the signal path of other channels.The protection circuitry assures that signal fidelityis maintained even under fault conditions thatwould destroy other multiplexers. Analog inputs canwithstand 70Vp-p signal levels and standard ESDtests. Signal sources are protected from short circuitsshould multiplexer power loss occur; each input presentsa 1kW resistance under this condition. Digitalinputs can also sustain continuous faults up to 4Vgreater than either supply voltage.These features make the MPC508A and MPC509Aideal for use in systems where the analog signalsoriginate from external equipment or separately poweredsources.
