The EL6935B is a highly integrated laser diode driverdesigned to support mulTI-standard writable opTIcal drives. Itaccomplishes this by incorporaTIng a waveform generatorwherein the diode currents and TIming details can beprogrammed before operation. The generator inspects theNRZ serial data waveform and generates programmedwaveforms in recognition of 3, 4, 5, or 6 or more clockperiods of space changing to 3, 4, 5, or 6 or more clockperiods of mark, and vice versa. The part also has an IVamplifier with concurrent read and write sampling. The gainsof the IV amplifier are programmable, eliminating the needfor external potentiometers.The flexible architecture supports different media andspeeds for Blue, DVD, and CD standards.
